Obesity has become an extremely important health problem in the Western world, not just for humans but for dogs and cats as well. Obesity in pets is associated with joint problems, diabetes mellitus, respiratory compromise, and decreased life span; recent estimations suggest that up to 35% of dogs and cats in the U.S. suffer from obesity.
Kidney disease is one of the most common issues we see with senior pets and accounts for the cause of death in many older pets. One of the most important treatment options we employ for this common disease is diet change to help support kidney health and maintain kidney function.
Diarrhea is an extremely common complaint for both dog and cat owners. Whether the cause is dietary indiscretion, infection, stress or parasitism, one thing that can help speed recovery is feeding an easily digestible diet for several days. This diet needs to be balanced to meet all of your animals needs.
Dogs and cats with diabetes can benefit from being fed a diet lower in carbohydrate and higher in fiber and protein. Diet manipulation can often decrease or even obliterate the need for insulin injections in your diabetic animal!
